At People Places we look for places we where we can make a positive difference in a neighborhood. Sometimes a well executed small fixer-upper project is just what a neighborhood needs to spur others to follow suit. The Florida Avenue renovation was an exercise in small but transformative development and a “get our feet wet” project for our Associates. The duplex was originally built in 1947 and is located just a short walk from the historic downtown in New Port Richey, Florida. We selected the property for its appealing small-town, urban location and because it needed some TLC. With renovations including all new plumbing, new interior walls and windows, the addition of central AC, and complete demo of kitchens and baths, our goal was to transform this former eye-sore into a shining example of what good stewardship of historic properties can achieve. The dual residences rented within days of becoming available, underscoring the need for good quality, affordable housing in downtown New Port Richey.
